TYLP #1

TYLP #1 (Teaching Young Learners Post Number 1)

You need to post your answer on your own posterous page. You also need to email me the URL of your posterous website. You have one week to complete this assignment. The due date is always 12 'o clock noon, on the following Tuesday after the assignment was given. For example, your TYLP#1 is due on Tuesday, April 17th, at 12 pm.

1. Please share and summarize the earliest English language learning experience/s you can remember. Talk about what you felt at the time. Share about what your teacher/s were like. Make sure you elaborate. Don't just write that the teacher was motivational. Think and write about WHY the teacher was motivational or not. Explain WHY you felt the way you did. This will point to deeper insights to teaching and help inform your own teaching in the future.

OR

2. Based on our first lecture, and your own opinions, share about what do you think is important for teaching children a language. Don't just say that you need to be fun, or interesting or motivational. Elaborate on WHY or HOW you would be fun, interesting or motivational. One paragraph would be sufficient.

Many Korean who are almost my age know "Yoon teacher's English". It is a private english study by using telephone. When i was 3rd grade of elementary, i started to study English as Yoon teacher's. It was simple. Everyday i listened tape and solved some questions and then every morning (except Sat, Sun) my teacher called me and confirmed my task. At first, i felt that studying english was easy and interesting and i really enjoyed to study. As time went by studying english was hard to me because i had to study by myself. I was too young to study by myself especially english is not my mother tongue. In fact, every morning my teacher called me but it wasn't easy to put a question to teacher. When i felt it was hard to study, i avoided my teacher's call and refused to study english for long. In my experience, there wasn't any teacher's role. It means, teacher didn't teach me, her role was little and she didn't take care of me. I was hard to study but she didn't realize that.
I think, teaching is important but it 's not enough. Taking care of students are more important as young learner. If teacher more focuses on his or her students, the students might study harder than others.
