HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL ACTIVITY DETAILS 2013
You have an assigned hour for your class to be at the Festival. Please check the schedule posted in UXI or the email sent last week. An Activity Lead GA will meet you at Pellenor Field Check In Booth (Ghoul Central) and escort your class through several activities including Pumpkin Carving. The goal is to do about 2 activities and carve pumpkins in your hour.
Zombie Attack –A hit every year! @10mins
GOAL: To get blindfolded players through the Zombie maze the fastest. Students will walk as quickly as possible through a maze of “zombies” while blindfolded. Pair the students up, one is blindfolded and the other will give directions in English. Simple directions such as left, right, stop, one step, should be used to keep the blindfolded students from touching any “zombies”. Some “zombies” will be standing soda bottles, while other “zombies” will be live GAs who can move about slowly. If they touch a zombie they are out or can start again. Compete among your class members.
Scarecrow Building Obstacle Course – lots of Halloween fun in two teams! @10mins
GOAL: For individuals in your class to complete the skills to build a scarecrow the fastest.
Divide the class into 2 teams of students to complete a series of different tasks/skills, like tossing candy corn, balancing a pumpkin on their head, etc. As each task is completed another piece (Pants, boots, shirt, broom, hat) is added to build a scarecrow. One team member from each group will be transformed into a scarecrow. This member does not have to run but will eventually be dressed up as a scarecrow. This is only competition between your two small groups in your class. Get ready to play!Musical Graves –our Halloween spin on Musical Chairs! @10mins
GOAL: The students will walk around the graves while the music plays. As soon as the music stops, they must be quicker than their classmate to find an empty grave! When all the graves are taken, the remaining player is out. One grave is removed, and the game continues.
Monster Mask Making – time for the students to show their creativity! @10mins
GOAL: For the students to decorate a paper plate mask. Teachers will help with supplies and keep students on task. Students will take half of a paper plate, and decorate it however they wish. We recommend that they first cut out the holes for their eyes before decorating the paper plate. They will also need to measure and add string/ribbon the sides to fit mask to their head; they might need help fitting the string around their head.
Pumpkin Carving-a Halloween tradition! @25-30 mins
GOAL: Design and carve a great pumpkin in small groups.
Teachers will organize and keep students on task for this activity. Each class gets 3 pumpkins to carve and decorate. Divide class into groups ahead of time. Students can use whatever creative means to decorate their pumpkin. They can use the tools and supplies provided as well as things brought or collected from classroom, nature, etc. When finished, the best of the three pumpkins will be chosen. Let us take a class photo with your pumpkins in the new photo area! At the end of your hour, your carved pumpkins can be taken from the field by your class members. If you leave them behind, please put a name on them with black marker or they will be tossed or given away.Photo PHun Area-
The photo board area expanded so classes can stay involved if waiting for the other games. Take photos with our new Halloween photo boards and stockades. There will also be a bucket of simple costumes for students who forgot to wear their own (please remind students that they must return the items borrowed before moving on to the next available activity). There is makeup as well.Carnival Booths-
